Transfer Credits

Students intending to transfer to UCSC should meet early with advisors at their own campus so that they can plan ahead to take as many courses as possible which can be used toward their major at UCSC, both in economics and in math. This is extremely important so that students can maximize their time when they arrive at UCSC, instead of needing to take more lower-division major courses.

Transfer students who have taken courses at another institution which may be transferrable toward completion of the majors in Business Management Economics, Economics, or Global Economics should contact the Department Office as soon as possible to determine a program of study. Bring a copy of the transcripts from any institutions attended. In some cases, transfer students will be required to submit additional information such as a course description and syllabus. Applicable credit toward an economics core course (prerequisite) or upper-division elective will be determined by the department. Students need to receive a grade of C or better for any transfer courses to count toward the majors listed above. Courses from community and junior colleges always count as lower-division work.

Effective Fall 1996, the department no longer accepts transfer equivalents for Economics 113, Introduction to Econometrics.
