Robert Fairlie joined the economics faculty in 1994. His areas of specialization include labor economics, entrepreneurship, public economics, and applied econometrics. He has conducted research on entrepreneurship, technology, minority business ownership and outcomes, the digital divide, the effects of immigration on U.S. labor markets, racial patterns in unemployment and job displacement, welfare reform and the U.S. educational system. Fairlie is an adjunct researcher at RAND and a research affiliate at the National Poverty Center at the University of Michigan and the IZA. |
